URBAN MOTION

SEMESTER 3 – Group of 3

Interaction Design – Interactive Skateboard ramp sample

In my third semester, the focus was on interaction design. The chosen topic was to develop a concept or enriching feature for the Urban Sports Festival in Ravensburg in 2025. We examined the problem that tricks in urban sports are not understandable to all visitors to such a festival, as there is a lot of technique behind them and some things are inconspicuous. Using skating in the mini ramp as an example, we developed a system to visually solve the problem. Our goal was to support the sport through visuals. The aim was to make tricks more understandable and accessible to all visitors so that the urban scene could be accessible to everyone. The main feature of our project was a homemade fingerboard ramp, which is 1:10 the size of a real skateboard mini ramp. There, the skaters are tracked and their tricks are accompanied live by the appropriate visuals, which are projected onto the ramp.
